The Today for Tomorrow (TFT) Initiative has called for the implementation of policies that will strengthen women’s participation in peacebuilding, climate resilience, conflict prevention, and decision-making processes across Adamawa State.
The call was made during a press briefing organized to mark the close of the ‘Her Response Counts Project,’ implemented in Demsa and Numan Local Government Areas with funding from the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund and support from UN Women.
Speaking at the event, the Project Officer, Ketura Balanso, said the project had empowered women and amplified their voices in addressing climate-related conflicts and promoting peaceful coexistence in the benefiting communities.
The project’s Policy Analyst, Dr. Tumba Kwabe also presented the findings of a policy review conducted during the implementation period, identifying critical gaps and recommending the adoption and implementation of policies that will enhance women’s inclusion in peacebuilding, climate resilience, conflict prevention, and decision-making at both the state and local government levels.
Also speaking, climate change expert, Chimda Musa stressed the need for stronger collaboration among government institutions, civil society organizations, and communities to tackle the growing impact of climate change while ensuring women play active roles in developing sustainable solutions.
The briefing brought together stakeholders, community representatives, civil society organizations, and members of the media to review the achievements of the project and chart a path toward sustaining its impact.
