EID CELEBRATION: Former VP urges Adamawa state gov’t to support farmers

Adamawa State government has been urged to assist farmers in the state with farm inputs.

 

The call was made by the former vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar while delivering his speech during the durbar at the palace of lamido Adamawa as part of celebration marking this year’s eid.

 

 

 

Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar also urged the people of the state to embrace farming as a means of survival and overcome the current hardship advising them to plant early maturing crops in order to have bumper harvest.

 

 

 

Atiku Abubakar, who is the Waziri of Fombina kingdom, congratulated the Muslims for successfully completing the 2024 Ramadan fast and called on them to be steadfast in their commitment to humanity and respect for authorities.

 

 

 

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar lamented the current economic situation in the country as he called on the people to turned to God in prayers and support leaders to address the situation.

 

 

 

While commending Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for distributing palliative in the state, the former vice president urged the people not be tempted to sell the food items freely giving to them.

 

 

 

He also called on the people to work closely with security operatives and support them with relevant information that will aid in addressing insecurity in their communities.

 

 

 

Regarding the 2024 Hajj operation, the former vice president appealed to the Government to look into the situation and assist intending pilgrims to enable them tap into the blessings of one of the important pillars of Islam.

 

 

 

The colorful durbar and Sallah homage events which were suspended by the Lamido of Adamawa, Doctor Mohammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic was revived, to enable Muslims mark the Eid-El-Fitr celebration in grand style.

 

 

 

Muslims from various districts and ethnic groups joined in the famous celebration and paid sallah homage at the palace of the Lamido in Yola.

 

 

 

Also in attendance at the Lamido’s place for the celebration were Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, speaker Adamawa State house of assembly Bathiya Wesley, Secretary to the State Government Awal Tukur, Security Chiefs and other top Government officials and other personalities.
