President Tinubu Visits Maiduguri to Express Sympathy Over Flood Disaster

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived Maiduguri, the Borno state capital to commiserate with the government and people affected by the recent catastrophic flood disaster.

 

The state has been grappling with its worst flooding in decades, which has displaced hundreds of thousands and resulted in extensive property damage.

 

The Presidential aircraft landed at the Nigerian Airforce base in Maiduguri at 3:20 pm and inspected a guard of honor at the base.

 

Upon arrival, President Tinubu was welcomed by Borno State Governor Professor Babagana Zulum.

 

During his visit, the President  is scheduled to address displaced persons at Government College, one of the thirty-eight camps set up by the state government for flood victims and assess some areas affected by the disaster.

 

Additionally, he will pay a visit to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, at his palace.

 

According to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) over 400,000 people have been displaced by the flood.
