As part of effort to eliminate malaria, the National Malaria Elimination Program, Federal Ministry of Health in collaboration with Adamawa State government and other partners have solicit grassroot support for proper use of the insecticide treated net,ITN,for a malaria free society.
They solicited the support at the 2023 Insecticide Treated Nets Mass campaign Agenda for Insecticide Treated Nets, ITN, Campaign Coordination Network Second Review meeting in Yola, Adamawa State Capital.
Campaign Manager, Management Sciences for Health, Victoria Erinle while giving update on the ITN mass campaign implementation, cited issues of net highjack, reluctancy in pulling down the old and hanging the new ITN, instant selling of the mosquito Nets among others hence the need to solicit the support of traditional, religious and community leaders for a successful fight against malaria.
Earlier in a welcome address, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Isuwa Misali commended the malaria Elimination Partners for the progress achieved so far in the mosquito Nets distribution, calling on the people of Adamawa State to use the ITN properly to stay safe from mosquitoes that spread malaria.
In their separate goodwill messages representatives of National Malaria Elimination Program, Isaac Adejo, Catholic Relieve Services, Ade Orezie Adekoyibo and that of Chemonics, Adeniyi Olugbenga expressed gratitude to Adamawa State Government and the State Elimination actors and also solicit their support on citizens continues use of the ITN.
The insecticide treated net is the easiest and cheapest means of treating malaria and utilization of the mosquito Nets stands as strategy for malaria control.
The 2023 Insecticidal Treated Nets Mass campaign is part of the malaria Elimination partners effort to eliminate malaria in collaboration with the National Malaria Elimination Program with funding from global fund malaria project.
