First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has flagged off the distribution of 10,000 professional kits to frontline healthcare and midwives across the Northeast region of Nigeria.
The event took place at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
Delivering her speech, the first lady said the initiative was aimed at complementing the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in enhancing the healthcare system in the country.
Senator Tinubu explained that each geopolitical zone is expected to receive 10,000 professional kits – CROCs and scrubs to enhance healthcare delivery.
She emphasized that while skill and compassion are crucial in healthcare, adequate tools are also crucial for effective healthcare services.
She noted that the core focus of the initiative was to reduce the mortality rate in the country, particularly among mothers and children.
Senator Tinubu commended the Coordinating Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate, and the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Doctor Muyi Aina, for their commitment to the program.
Speaking at the event, Governor Agbu Kefas, of Taraba State expressed gratitude to the first lady for choosing Taraba state as the host for the northeast Zone, stating that the state’s development agenda aligns with Renewed Hope Vision.
In her welcome address, the wife of the Governor, Agyin Agbu Kefas, described the donation made by the first Lady as a significant milestone for the state and assured that the kits would be utilized judiciously.
The Coordinating Minister of Health, Professor Ali Pate, lauded the First Lady’s passion for healthcare improvement, highlighting ongoing efforts to train more healthcare personnel.
He urged health workers to treat patients with compassion and professionalism.
