German Government targets sixty percent of Michika women to drive its intervention project in Michika Local Government of Adamawa State.

Women from sixteen Wards of Michika local government area of Adamawa state have been targeted to drive the implementation of the intervention by the German Government aimed at improving Social cohesion through Community Development Planning.

This is to strengthen their capacity for rapid development and improve food security in Nigeria.

Interim Country Director, OXFAM Nigeria, Tijjani Ahmed, revealed this at a three-Day participatory stakeholders and validation workshop for Michika Local Government Community Development Planning, Document held in Michika Local Government area of the State.

OXFAM Nigeria, Interim Country Director, Tijjani Ahmed, represented by the Acting Head of Program, Dr. Williams Mafwalal, said citizens engagement is key in improving the livelihood of conflict affected population adding that women and children are the worst hit during conflict situations.

He explained that the reason behind the emphasis to strengthen the capacity of sixty percent of the one thousand seven hundred and sixty women from the sixteen Wards of Michika Local Government area was to drive the implementation of the intervention aimed at bringing development.

On their parts, Project Coordinator, OXFAM Nigeria, Enoch Bamaiyi, and Project Officers Christian Rural and Urban Development Association of Nigeria CRUDAN, Moses Alago and that of Centre for Public Education and Mobilization for Development in Nigeria CEPAD-Nigeria, Milcah Gama said engaging citizens to come up with a Community Development Plan Document will bring about the desired result and charged the people of Michika Local Government to work towards its sustainability.

District Head,Vi Michika Ward, Ayuba Audu Marie appreciated the German Government for choosing Michika Local Government area to benefit from its intervention and expressed optimism that the project will improve the education sector of the community.

Members of the sixteen wards of Michika Local Government were full of gratitude to the German Government for giving them the opportunity to come up with the Community Development Planning Document to address issues that directly affects them.

Director Planning, Research and Statistics, Adamawa State Ministry of Water Resources, Engineer, Mohammed Adamu, commended the foresight of the German Government for giving the Nigerians the opportunity to come up with the Community Development Planning Document and pledged Adamawa State government’s commitment to consolidate the intervention and ensures the sustainability of the project.

The support to improving Social Cohesion through Community Development Planning in sixteen Wards of Michika Local Government area of Adamawa State was launched by the German Government on the 24 August 2023 to restore the livelihood of the communities in the areas of agriculture, education, health, climate change, water sanitation among other things.

Michika Local Government of Adamawa State is one amongst the worst hit by insurgency.
