Gombe youths encouraged to Embrace Skill Acquisition For Self-Reliance

Youths in Gombe state have been advised to avail themselves the opportunities provided by the federal government through the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment to acquire skills that would make them self-reliant.

 

The state controller federal ministry of Labor and Employment, Malam Magaji Adamu, made the call while speaking to newsmen in the state, on the recent report which stated that Nigeria is amongst the countries in the world that have the highest rates of unemployment.

 

Malam Magaji Adamu said despite the economic challenges in the country, the ministry has succeeded in creating employment opportunities for teeming youths through the labor inspection exercise.

 

He said through the same exercise the ministry has visited over Nine Hundred and Eighty industries and registered many.

 

The controller also added that the ministry has issued a lot of recruitment license and treat test certificates to those who undergo training, stressing that one hundred youths have been selected within the North East States, and undergo various skills training in Bauchi the zonal headquarter of the ministry.

 

He said recently the Gombe office of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Employment has introduced an online Job creation center, encouraging whoever needed employment to apply online.

 

Similarly, while speaking to newsmen on their achievement in Gombe state, the state coordinator National Directorate of Employment, Mr. Jediel Stephen, says the directorate is recording a lot of success in reducing the rate of unemployment in the state.

 

The NDE coordinator who expressed concern over the cost of training of beneficiaries, appealed to youths that benefited from various skill training to desist from selling the equipment that have been presented to them at the end of the training.

 

Mr Jediel also called on politicians especially those that want to organize employment programmes for their electorates, to liaise with the directorate for professional advice.
