Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has condemned the killing of twenty-nine people in coordinated attacks on Guyaku One community and surrounding areas in Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Fintiri made the condemnation when he led government officials to Guyaku to personally assess the level of damage, describing the incident as inhumane and senseless.
Fintiri expressed sympathy with the families of the victims in the affected communities, noting that the loss of lives has plunged the state into mourning.
The governor reassured residents of the state’s commitment to protecting lives and property, stressing that decisive steps are already being taken to prevent further attacks.
Governor Fintiri commended security personnel for taking control of the situation and working tirelessly to restore peace in the affected areas.
He also called on members of the public to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information to aid efforts in maintaining peace and preventing future occurrences.
The governor, who also urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant, assured them that those responsible for the attacks will be identified and brought to justice.
Earlier, the Kumo of Gombi, Ali Agray, while briefing the governor, revealed that the attackers stormed Guyaku Primary School during a football match, opened fire, and set vehicles ablaze.
According to him, twenty-nine people were confirmed dead in Guyaku One, comprising twenty-eight men and one woman, while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries, as hundreds fled their homes.
