Governor Fintiri Insists on Merit as Adamawa Names New Permanent Secretaries

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, says appointments to the office of Permanent Secretary will remain strictly merit-based to eliminate favouritism and nepotism in the state civil service.

Governor Fintiri stated this while announcing the results of the 2026 Permanent Secretaries’ Qualifying Examination at the Government House, Yola.

 

He said the examination, introduced by his administration, ensures that only competent officers are appointed and has strengthened professionalism in the civil service.

Governor Fintiri described the process, conducted by the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria ASCON, as transparent and credible, urging unsuccessful candidates to remain hopeful as more opportunities will arise when vacancies occur.

The Head of Service Isa Shehu Ardo, said 22 candidates sat for the examination, held on May 12 and 13, 2026, to fill vacancies in seven local government areas.
