Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has urged Corps Members to respect the traditions and values of their host communities, foster harmonious relationships and utilize their knowledge and skills to improve lives and promote national unity.
Governor Fintiri made the call during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Damare, in Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, the Governor said the ceremony marked not only the formal commencement of the orientation course but also the beginning of a transformative journey of service, leadership, self-discovery and nation-building for thousands of young Nigerian graduates.
According to him, by taking the Oath of Allegiance, the Corps Members are reaffirming their commitment to the unity, progress and development of the nation.
He assured them that Adamawa State would not only be a place of service but also a home where they would gain valuable experience, build lasting friendships and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
Governor Fintiri also encouraged the Corps Members to take full advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, describing it as one of the most impactful components of the NYSC scheme.
He urged them to actively participate in various SAED training areas, including agriculture, information and communication technology, fashion and beauty, construction, catering and food processing, creative arts, environmental management and other enterprise-based skills.
The Governor further stated that, beyond food augmentation during the orientation course, his administration has sustained the payment of a thirty-thousand-naira monthly allowance to Corps Members serving in the state.
The State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, Mrs Asoroh Chinedu expressed satisfaction with the level of work ongoing at the new NYSC Orientation Camp in Malkohi, noting that the project reflects the administration’s commitment to youth development and the provision of quality infrastructure for the scheme.
She appreciated Governor Fintiri for his unwavering support and dedication to the growth and welfare of the NYSC in Adamawa State.
Also speaking, Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, Wali Yakubu, said the Board remains committed to working closely with the State Government and relevant stakeholders to ensure the welfare, security and overall success of Corps Members during their service year.
The Oath of Allegiance was administered by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, represented by Justice Christopher Dominic Mapeo, who urged the Corps Members to obey the rules and regulations, respect constituted authority and remain proud ambassadors of their fatherland throughout their service year.
A total of 1,367 Corps Members have so far been registered.
