A cross section of students in Adamawa State have called on government at all levels to assign supervisor in every school to improve the standard of teaching in Nigerian Schools.
They made the call in an interview with Fombina News to mark the 2024 International Day for Education in Yola, Adamawa State.
Leveraging on the theme for 2024 International Day for Education, Learning for Lasting Peace , the students, Stephen Sever Igba, Anna Naizah and Dorcas Manassa blamed some teachers for not completing their syllabus but expect students to perform well in examination, calling on government to station supervisors in every school to monitor the activities of teachers with the aim of improving the standard of teaching in schools.
They further called on government to improve security in schools to save students from any security challenges.
On his part, while sighting the effects of worsening climate change on education, UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Bauchi Field Office, Tushar Rane said education is a powerful tool to addressing the challenges affecting the abilities of pupils and students ages 3-17 to read with comprehension or solve simple math problems.
Rane therefore encouraged parents and guidance to support government in ensuring safe School to improve standards of education for lasting peace.
High point of the occasion to mark the International Day for Education was distribution of School Supplies by UNICEF in collaboration with the Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board to vulnerable children affected by conflict in Fufore and Malkohi IDPs Camps primary Schools and Luggere primary school of Yola North Local Government areas of Adamawa State.
