Adamawa State Government lays foundation for construction of Model Schools across the state

Adamawa State government has reiterated its commitment to providing basic education to every child in the state.

 

The governor of Adamawa state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri stated this at the foundation laying ceremony and flag off of construction of model schools in all the local government areas in Adamawa State which took place in Girei local government area.

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the choice of the school project especially at the basic level, is not a mere coincidence, rather it is a deliberate and calculated strategy to reduce the burden of out-of-school children by providing access and encouraging enrolment of children in schools.

 

“As part of our rural development drive, we have allowed communities and Local Governments to do a NEEDS assessment, align it with what we have and deliver it to the people. Today, it is the school project in education tomorrow it might be either healthcare, agriculture or any other project that can aid the delivery of the items on our 8-Point Agenda”.

 

The governor said his administration will continue to make the right assessment of the developmental needs of the people with its partners, and develop the right collaboration to source for resources and deploy them to areas where they are critically needed.

 

He noted that the 21-model school project is the first phase of such development explaining that the schools will be properly equipped to provide the right environment for modern learning at the basic level from nursery, primary and junior secondary school.

 

“It is expected to sit on a minimum of three hectares in each of our 21 Local Government Areas. It is a project worth ₦14,993,496,288.47. It is to be funded through a collaboration with the 21 Local Government Areas of the State’’.

 

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri therefore added that his administration will always remain faithful and committed to executing people oriented project for the development of the state.

 

In his remarks, the commissioner for education, Garba Umar Pella appreciated the fintiri led administration’s quest to develop education sector in the state.

 

According to him the project will further help in tackling the menace of out of school children that is bedeviling the nation.

 

 

In his welcome address, the commissioner local government and chieftaincy affairs, Yayaji Mijinyawa said the foundation laying ceremony indicates the commitment of the Fintiri led administration’s vision to improve education in the state.

 

In their separate goodwill messages, the executive chairman, Girei local government area, Judah Amisa, the district head of Girei local government area and ubandoma Adamawa, Ahmed mustafa and the member representing Girei constituency in the state assembly thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his effort in developing education in the state, assuring the governor of their supports at all times.

 

In his vote of thanks, the Algon Chairman Adamawa state, Gidado Abdulsalam thanked and appreciated Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his commitment in developing education in the state and pledged to continue to support the governor.

 

Highlight of the event was a display of traditional dance.
