Ahead of the April 15 supplementary governorship election, the adamawa state police command has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and properties of the people in the state.

Police public relations officer, PPRO in the state, DSP Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje gave the assurance while speaking to Radio Nigeria in Yola.

The PPRO said the command would maintain early deployment of officers to strategic points, especially the INEC state headquarters which is the state collation centre as well as putting all divisional police officers, DPOs across the state on alert in case of any eventuality.

He called on the residents of the state to remain calm and go about their normal activities as they await a rerun of the election.

Also Speaking, the Publicity secretary of the Peoples’ Democratic party, PDP in Adamawa state Gidado Bello said the party had accepted INEC’S declaration of inconclusive gubernatorial election in good faith.

Malam Gidado said, as a law abiding party, the PDP will always respect the decision of the INEC as long as it operates within the ambit of the laws.

Also, one of the party’s stake holders in the state, Barristar Leader Teneke explained that the PDP is watching since there are laws guiding electoral processes to when results were declared and what comes after.

All efforts to speak with executives of the All Progressives Congress APC proved abortive as the officials were not on seat during a visit to the party secretariat and none of them was ready to speak on phone.

The Adamawa state Resident electoral commissioner, REC was also not around to speak but when a request was put through via telephone, he declined, saying he will brief newsmen upon his resumption to duty.

The Independent National electoral commission had declared the March 18 gubernatorial election inconclusive based on the margin between cancelled votes and total differences between the Peoples’ democratic party PDP and the All progressives Congress APC.

INEC has however fixed April 15 for supplementary election to determine the winner of the governorship election in Adamawa state.
