Ministry of labour and employment urges youth to join entrepreneurship and skills acquisition

The department of skills development and certification of the federal ministry of labour and employment northeast Zonal office has organised a one day sensitization on apprenticeship and attestation in Gombe state.

 

 

The program with the THEME enhancing job creation through skills acquisition, aims to develop and promote entrepreneurship and skills acquisition for teeming unemployed youths.

 

In his address the Zonal Director Malam shehu Adamu Musa said the sensitization became necessary due to the consequences boko haram insurgency, banditry and farmers – headers clashes which led to the economic setback in agriculture and other commercial activities thereby rendering teeming youths jobless and helpless.

 

Shehu Adamu Musa added that it is imperative to find solutions to these problems, which necessitated the apprenticeship and attestation programmes in the region.

 

The Zonal director further explained that the programme will not only help in training unemployed youths and graduates but also certify them in various trades which can be used for employment and promotion.

 

In his speech, Director skills development and certification, Mr Tiza Chilla Shaakaa urged youth to join any trade of their choice rather than looking for white collar jobs which are no longer available and warned trainers of taking under aged as apprentice as they must reach 12 years according labour law.

 

The state controller federal ministry of labour Gombe state office Malam Magaji Adamu thanked the ministry for thinking outside the box in organizing the apprenticeship and attestation programme in Gombe state and northeast sub region.

 

Speaking on behalf of mechanics at Bauchi motor Park Gombe Yunusa mechanic and chairman GSM repairs Adamu Yusuf A.D expressed appreciation for the sensitization and called on government at all levels to intervene considering the number of job they create to unemployed youths.

 

The sensitization visited automobile technicians, tailoring centres, Hairdressers, drivers and catering services among others.
