National population commission Gombe state, inaugurate publicity committee for the 2023 population and housing census

National population commission Gombe state has said that it will deploy full digital technology in the conduct of the census and it will leave no stones unturned in ensuring that the results of the census exercise is acceptable to Nigerians, and the quality of data generated, meets international best standards.

The executive chairman, national population commission, Honourable Nasir Isa Kwarra, made the disclosure during the inauguration of Gombe state 2023 population and housing census publicity committee, held in the state.

Represented by the Honourable Federal Commissioner, National population commission Gombe state, Honourable Abubakar Mohammed Danburam, the executive chairman said the job before the committee was phenomenal, considering the need to inform, educate, and enlighten Nigerians on the scope of the census, which will involve the counting of every person resident in Nigeria during the conduct of the exercise which will take place simultaneously in every household in the country.

He mentioned that the mobilization of critical stakeholders to support and take ownership of the process to achieve the desired outcome is imperative and it hinges on their ability to speak to the people on the language that will galvanize and mobilize them to participate in the 2023 census.

The executive chairman said in order to ensure that members of the Gombe state census publicity committee have a good grasp of the processes and methodology of the 2023 population and housing census, a workshop will be organized to keep members of the committee to date on the preparation for the census.

He reassured the people and the international community that the commission is irrevocably committed to ensuring that everything is done rightly and professionally.

In his opening remarks, the state director, national population commission, Gombe state Mr Jude Maigari appealed to the committee members to carry out their duties professionally in other to conduct a credible, reliable and acceptable 2023 census exercise in the state.

Dignitaries present at the occasion were the chairman and representatives of the Gombe state traditional council, chairman, Gombe state house of assembly committee on information, the state chairman Muslim council (JNI), CAN, Heads of Federal Establishments, parasyatals, and agencies, chairman NUJ, chairperson NCWS, NULGE, And Gombe state chapter of NANS among others.

Highlights of the occasion was the decoration of inaugurated members.
