The National Youths Service Corps in Adamawa State has appealed to the state government and stakeholders to continue to support the scheme in promoting unity in diversity.
The State Coordinator, National Youths Service Corps, Mr. Jingi Denis made the appeal during the occasion of the NYSC at Fifty golden Jubilee anniversary lecture, Award and Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development exhibition held at banquet hall, government house, Yola.
The Adamawa State Coordinator, National Youths Service Corps, Mr. Jingi Denis explained that the scheme is reputed for being the number one platform for the promotion of National unity and integration, building and consummating inter-tribal marital relationships among Nigerians.
According to him, they must commend the patriotic spirit of the Corps Members who displayed selfless services in their host communities in the state, through the provision of community development service projects such as roads, schools, drilling of boreholes, installation of street lights, construction of restrooms and culverts among others.
He said NYSC at 50 has recorded great achievements which is a clear testament to the fact that the scheme has met the objectives of its establishment.
Mr. Jingi Denis also said the scheme has made Corps Members to have sense of togetherness, oneness, friendship and brotherhood among Nigerian Youths, irrespective of cultural and social background.
The guest lecturer at the occasion of NYSC at 50, Mohammed Umar who is also the founder of the Optimum Lab in Yola, delivered a lecture on the theme: NYSC Five decades of fostering National Unity and Development, explained that the scheme was created to develop and unite the country and to bring youths together to interact and bridge cultural gaps.
He said Adamawa State has different cultural background, urging the corps members to learn different cultures for national development.
A lecturer with the Federal College of Education, Yola, Dr. Ahmed Zeilani said NYSC is one of the scheme that Foster national development, unity and integration, urging the corps members to do more.
One of the awardees at the occasion was the most friendly local government Chairman, who is the chairman of Shelleng Local Government area of the state.
Five distinguished personalities were awarded for their selfless services to NYSC.
