The Borno State Police Command has arrested eight suspects during an anti-drug operation conducted in parts of Maiduguri as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse and related crimes across the state.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, says the operation was carried out by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad Anti-Social Vices Unit in Bulumkutu and Dala areas of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council on the 1st of June, 2026.
According to the statement, the suspects were arrested for alleged possession and consumption of prohibited substances following a targeted raid conducted at about 2:20 p.m.

Items recovered from the suspects include forty-six capsules of Tramadol, twelve wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and two D5 tablets.
The statement adds that the suspects have been charged to court, while the recovered exhibits have been tendered as evidence.
The Command reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating drug-related crimes and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to support security efforts in the state.
