Farmers across Yobe State are set to benefit from a major agricultural intervention following the approval by Governor Mai Mala Buni to reduce the cost of tractor hiring by fifty per cent.

The Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mohammed Goje, disclosed this in a statement, saying the tractor hiring fee has been reduced from one hundred thousand naira to fifty thousand naira.

Dr Goje explained that the decision is aimed at easing the financial burden on farmers and increasing access to mechanised farming services during the current farming season.

According to him, the reduction will enable more farmers to cultivate larger portions of land, improve productivity and boost agricultural output across the state.

He noted that the initiative is expected to lower cultivation costs, enhance food production and strengthen food security in Yobe State.

The Acting SSG added that the Buni administration has continued to prioritise agriculture through investments in farm machinery, improved seeds, fertilisers and other support programmes designed to empower farmers and stimulate rural economic growth.

Dr Goje further stated that making tractor services more affordable would encourage greater participation in farming activities and help farmers maximise their yields.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to sustaining policies and programmes that promote agricultural development, create employment opportunities and improve the livelihoods of the people.
