As the world commemorates the International Day for Persons with Disabilities,the wife of the Adamawa State Governor, Hajiya Lami Fintiri showed her support by celebrating with individuals with disabilities in the state.
She emphasized the importance of showcasing the talents and skills of persons with disabilities, highlighting their capabilities, and creating opportunities for them to demonstrate leadership in society.
Hajiya Lami, represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Nedo Kufolto, at the celebration held at the blind workshop in Yola, called on stakeholders and non-governmental organizations to work together with the state government to prioritize persons with disabilities.
She stressed the need to provide them with necessary support to promote self-reliance.
This year’s celebration aims to empower individuals with disabilities to contribute meaningfully to society, improve their well-being, and promote inclusivity in the community.
Hajiya Lami highlighted that by recognizing and empowering persons with disabilities, the government can create a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
The state chairman of persons with disabilities, Abuballahi Toungo, appreciated the gesture and thanked the state government for the support.
Through her office, the Fresh Air Pro-Life Empowerment Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, donated food items and clothing materials to rejoice with individuals with disabilities on their special day.
The theme for this year’s celebration is Amplifying Leadership.
