WORLD TOOTHACHE DAY: Promoting oral care and encouraging Regular Dental check-ups.

Toothache is considered the most common oral health illness that affects millions of people worldwide.

In an effort to emphasize the importance of dental health and encourage regular oral care, a dentist at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital,Yola, Dr. JEPHTHAH Dauda Lunge, in an interview with Fombina News, highlighted the significance of maintaining good oral hygiene.

Toothaches can range from mild discomfort to excruciating pain, often causing individuals to experience difficulty while eating, speaking, or even sleeping.

The most common causes of toothaches include tooth decay, gum disease, tooth fractures, among others.

According to Dr JEPHTHAH Dauda Lunge, neglecting dental hygiene through lack of regular brushing, infrequent flossing, and skipping routine dental check-ups, can lead to oral hygiene challenges.

“If you brush in the night before going to bed in the morning brush after eating your breakfast..” he stated.

The Dental specialist who further encouraged the use of fluoride containing toothpaste, warned against using hard tooth brush and recommended medium texture brush for adults, and soft texture brush for children.

“Just check the constituents once there is fluoride use it, it goes against holes, it will attack the bacteria and will slow down the progression of hole formation..”

The observance of World Toothache Day on 9th February every year serves as a reminder to individuals to seek professional help when experiencing tooth pain or other discomfort in their mouth.

Many people tend to ignore toothaches, hoping they will subside on their own.

However, delaying treatment can lead to further complications and more extensive dental interventions.

Dentists around the world encourage individuals to promptly consult a dental professional when experiencing tooth pain to receive appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
