The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has terminated the appointment of Aminu Abdullahi, a clerical assistant with the State Ministry of Higher Education, over alleged misconduct linked to a fatal road crash.
The decision was part of resolutions reached at the Commission’s 13th plenary session held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at its conference hall.
In a statement issued by the Commission’s Information and Public Relations Officer, Sale Umar, the dismissal followed findings that Aminu Abdullahi acted negligently while performing an assigned duty as a driver.
According to the statement, the officer’s conduct contravened Rules 0312 and 0327 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations.
Abdullahi, a Grade Level 03 clerical assistant, was reportedly directed under “other assigned duties” to convey a team of journalists covering project commissioning activities of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The Commission stated that the officer allegedly drove recklessly, resulting in an accident involving more than 10 journalists. The crash led to the death of two persons, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
It added that the disciplinary action followed recommendations from the Ministry of Higher Education and resolutions of the State Executive Council after reviewing the case.
Meanwhile, the Commission has queried the management of the Ministry of Higher Education, requesting an explanation as to why a clerical officer was assigned driving responsibilities.
