The Gombe State Police Command has organised a peace accord meeting with all political aspirants ahead of the party primaries in the state.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Muhammad Mustapha, said the peace accord was organised to bring together all aspirants to sign an agreement aimed at ensuring the peaceful and hitch-free conduct of political party primaries across the state.

He explained that the initiative would give all aspirants a sense of belonging while encouraging them to abide by the rules, regulations, and laid-down procedures guiding the conduct of free and fair primaries in the state.

DCP Muhammad Mustapha further noted that the peace accord would co-opt all aspirants into the strategic measures put in place to maintain law and order before, during, and after the forthcoming primary elections in Gombe State.

While signing the peace accord, the representative of Professor Isa Ali at the event, Barrister Ibrahim Attahir, expressed confidence in the process and hoped that the arrangement would help provide a peaceful atmosphere for the conduct of the primaries in the state.

Also speaking at the event, the representative of Zakariya Jeddah, an aspirant for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, Mallam Nura Garba, appreciated the peace accord initiative, saying it would promote confidence, patriotism, and a sense of belonging among political aspirants towards ensuring hitch-free primaries in the state.
