In its effort to encourage and improve on clean environment, the Adamawa state government is set to sanction any person who dumps refuse indiscriminately.
The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, gave the warning when she led the state executive council members during a sanitation exercise in Yola.
While demonstrating leadership by example, Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, led commissioners among other government officials to clean up heaps of refuse starched at Lamido Aliyu Mustapha fly-over and Round About Mai Doki, popularly known as Kuwait area.
The Deputy Governor said her leadership example by participating actively during the exercise was to encourage all residents of the state to participate in keeping the Adamawa state clean.
Professor Farauta, said the exercise was based on directives by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who is determined to protect all state infrastructure as well as keep them clean.
According to her, government will not tolerate any indiscriminate dumping of refuse, pasting of posters and billboards without clearance from the relevant agencies, warning that henceforth, offenders will be dealt with.
She therefore gave a marching order to the ministry of environment and all the agencies under it to ensure proper compliance, stressing that government will not rest, until Adamawa state regains its place as the land of beauty.
The commissioner of environment Mohammad Sadiq Mohammad, revealed that they were on course and all machineries have been put in place to achieve the desired goal of clean environment.
The Adamawa state government is partnering the state environmental protection agency and Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes to ensure the enforcement of sanitation.
