A Bauchi based Non Governmental Organization Sharing Education for Learning and Life SELL Foundation has called for the inclusion of women in leadership roles to drive national development.
The organization’s Project Manager, Mr. Beji Jibe, made the appeal during the opening ceremony of a one-day training workshop for young girls on mentoring and leadership skills.
Mr. Jibe stated that the era of excluding women from decision-making is over, emphasizing that women are often the ones who directly bear the impact of crises related to the economy, education, and other societal challenges.
He further noted that society would achieve more if platforms were created in communities to ensure that women’s voices are heard.
Mr. Jibe who noted that mentoring remains a core activity of the organization, which seeks to empower youth and women to become productive members of society revealed that the organization has established a committee addressing gender-based violence, drug abuse, education, and inheritance rights.
The move according to him aims to curb traditional practices that deprive women of their inheritance.
Some of the Participants spoken to, Daniel Favor and Divine Akachukwu, commended the organization for its efforts and promised to pass on the knowledge they gained to others.
