INEC to conduct supplementary elections in Doguwa / Tudun Wada Federal Constituency

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC on Wednesday said it will conduct supplementary elections in Doguwa / Tudun Wada Federal Constituency where the election results were said to have been declared under duress.

The Returning Officer for the Federal Constituency elections held, on February 25, Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, announced the decision of the electoral umpire after reviewing results of the elections held in the area.

Prof. Yakasai said that INEC in compliance with the provisions of the electoral act have reviewed the results.

He stated that there were cancellation of results in 13 polling units while the reviewed elections results stands as follows, APC 39,732, NNPP 34, 798, PDP 7,091.

He explained that the total number of votes in the 13 polling units that were cancelled stood at 6,917 as against the over 4000 votes margin between APC and NNPP.

He said INEC will conduct supplementary elections in the affected units to determine the winner of the February 25, Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency polls.

Radio Nigeria Recalled that the Majority Leader, House of Representatives and member representing Doguwa/ Tudun-Wada Federal Constituency, Alhassan Ado Doguwa was arraigned before a Senior Chief Magistrate Court by the Kano State Commissioner of Police in connection with electoral violence in the area.

He was remanded at the prison and later granted bail of N500 million by a Federal High Court.
