Women Journalists have been advised to embrace digital technology for creative solutions to promote gender equality in the society.
The Chairperson, Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) Adamawa state chapter, Rose Anthony Elishama gave the advice in an interview with Fombina News on the celebration of the 2023 International Women’s Day in Yola.

The Chairperson, Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ) Adamawa state chapter, Rose Anthony Elishama noted that encouraging women to embrace digital technology will result in more creative solutions to challenges confronting the society at large, through innovations that meet women’s needs and promote gender equality.
She advocated training aimed at developing and empowering female journalists so as to bridge the gender gap between them and their male counterparts.
She called for an end to all forms of discriminations against women in work places, and Gender Based Violence, especially against women and girls.
Rose Anthony Elishama noted that the theme for this year’s celebration, ‘DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality’ is apt, adding that it places a demand on all women to embrace technology for socio economic advancement.
The NAWOJ Chairperson while describing women as lovers of peace and architects of development called for women inclusion in all spheres of society, saying that their contribution to fostering peace, unity and development in the family, community, state, and the nation can not be ignored
International Women’s Day is a global celebration, observed annually on March 8.
The United Nations’ International Women’s Day this year explores the impact of the digital gender gap on widening economic and social inequalities, spotlights the importance of protecting the rights of women and girls in digital spaces as well as addresses online and ICT- facilitated Gender-Based Violence.
