The Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has lifted the ban on riding motorbikes in seven Local Government Areas of the State.

The statement by the Special Adviser on Security Affairs to the Governor, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam Rtd, said the ban on the riding of motorbikes is lifted with effect from 6th March 2023 in the 7 Local Government Areas of Yobe Zone A, which includes: Bursari, Damaturu, Geidam, Gujba, Gulani, Tarmuwa and Yunusari.

According to the statement the ban is lifted with the following conditions that Motorbikes are to operate between 6 am and 6 pm daily, there will be no conveyance of passengers, only a rider will be allowed without any other person on the motorbike.

It’s also indicate that there should be proper registration, licensing, and documentation of all motorbikes and riders in the affected LGAs by the Yobe State Road Traffic Management Agency (YOROTA) and the Yobe State Vehicle Licensing Authority.

It further disclosed that all Motorbikes are to operate within their respective LGAs only, saying that any motorbike rider that conveys passenger would be sanctioned in accordance with extant rules and regulations.

The statement pointed out that there would be no inter-local government area movement with motorbikes and added that all security agencies are requested to monitor and ensure strict compliance with these directives.
