Adamawa state governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has restated his administration’s commitment to uplifting the girl child and add value to their existence in the society.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri made this known when he granted audience to the members of the Federal Government girls’ college, FGGC Yola , alumni when they paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the government house, yola.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said his administration will ensure that it support and position the girl child to give in their best and to also add value to the society, contrary to the negative perception of the girl child.
The governor said his government will continue to partner with women of outstanding performance and achievements in the development of the state.
The governor said , he had earlier promised to renovate the dining hall of the school during a visit by some students but with the recent threat by erosion, he has resolved to address the challenge as well as the renovation of the dining hall.
According to the state governor, government has to played its part in the school as it continues to serve as an important institution of learning that has graduated many indigenes of the state, hence the need for the government to help in the development of the school.
The governor praised them for taking the pains to still remain together as one people bind under a common goal, adding that it is a pride to have one of them as the deputy governor of the state and also pledged that the government will continue to appreciate their contribution in the development of the state.
While Stating the essence of their visit, the National President of the federal government girls college alumni, Mrs. Chizoba Wonodi said they were at the government house to thank the executive governor for finding one of them worthy of occupying the seat of the deputy governor of the state, a move that further strengthens the fact that women are not political baggage but partners towards achieving meaningful development in the society, the state and the nation at large.
Mrs. Chizoba Wonodi said, for them to reciprocate such a wonderful gesture, the alumni is planning to organize the first ever home coming event where they intend to award the governor with a merit award, signifying their appreciation towards his commitment to the development of education in the state.
